For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: - 1Peter 2:21
When Jesus lived in this world He set an example to lead a life of righteousness which was pleasing in the sight of God at the same time undergoing all the sufferings of human beings. He showed us how to live holy, to love others and to have fellowship with other human beings. We go on adding all the good virtues of Christ which he set so that we can as His disciples follow it. Above all He showed us how to pray and how long to pray in the presence of God. We learn from the word of God that He got up very early in the morning before dawn and prayed with tears in His eyes. He also prayed all through the night. He spent lot times in praising and thanking God. Though Jesus prayed to God to give him strength to endure and complete His mission for which He came to the world, He prayed for us sinners more than His personal prayers. God who prayed for us then is interceding with His father for us even today. My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: (1Jn 2:1). Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.(Rom 8:26). Why should Christ pray for you? Today Satan is doing things against the Children of God in high places. Satan never acts openly. He does tempt and do evil things through cunningness. Christ is praying for you so that you are not lost in your spiritual life due to the problems and sufferings which Satan brings through cunning means. Christ is praying constantly for you so that you do not become tired in your spiritual life. In the life of Peter there was such an incident. Jesus prayed for Peter and saved his faith. And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.(Lk 22:31-32). Because Jesus prayed for Peter, Peter was able to overcome His temptations and sins and return to Jesus and continue to preach as a witness for Jesus. The same Jesus is praying for YOU too today with the same love and intensity. Therefore you will be able to over come your difficult situation through His prayer.
Jesus Christ not only prays to defend you faith but to lead a spiritual life also. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;(Jn 14:16). Here Jesus Christ points out that He will pray for us to His father. Why? He is praying so that God the father will send the Comforter to you. To receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit, because with out the assistance of the Holy Spirit, you cannot lead a prayerful life. Therefore Christ is praying to send the Holy Spirit upon you. This Holy Spirit gives you strength for spiritual life. Therefore it is mention in the word of God that He is the power from high. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.(Lk 24:49). Through this power from high you can be victorious over flesh, world and Satan. If you are not fill with the Holy Spirit you will defeated by the flesh, world and Satan. You have met with many loses in your life. Many have lost the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Today you are receiving the anointing that you have lost. The Lord your God Jesus Christ is praying for you. Therefore you are receiving the lost anointing of the Holy Spirit, not only that you also receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit. You will see that your house is rebuilt; you are prosperous in your ventures from now onwards. Christ is able to do everything for you. And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.(Zech 12:10).
For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring: - Isaiah 44:3
