Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. - Psalms 78:41
On many occasions you have subdued the power of God. When Jesus was living in this world He did mighty deeds for the people but the people lacked in faith and limited God and flow of His grace. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.(Mat 13:58). God wants to perform miracles in your life many times but due to your lack of your faith miracles are blocked. Your faith has tremendous power. We cannot explain by words the greatness of the power. Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.(Joshua 10:12). Joshua was a man like us. Meditate upon the power of his faith. By faith Joshua could stop the sun which was moving around for thousands of years. His faith had the power to stop the motion of the sun. The prophet Elijah, by faith commanded the rain to come down. The word of God tells us that Elijah was the man like us with all the human sufferings and pains. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.(James 5:17-18). Joshua was able to stop the sun; Elijah was able to command the rain by faith. If that is the force of faith available to Joshua and Elijah who were people like us only. The same force is available to each one of us if our faith is as strong as that of those people. Jesus Christ has confirmed this fact. And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.(Mat 17:20). God knows the intensity of your faith wheter it is deep or shallow.
Beloved, unbelief has the same power in the opposite direction as that of the faith which has the power in the positive direction. When you ask God for a favor ask in with out unbelief, with out doubt but with complete faith. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.(James 1:5-7). Your unbelief brings forth sufferings in your life. Even though God wants to help you, your faithlessness blocks His grace. When you repose your faith on God, God rewards you. Jesus appreciated the faith of the Canaanite woman. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.(Mat 15:28). We find in the word of God that the faith of Abraham is being appreciated in many places. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.(Rom 4:19-21). You also hold on to the promises of God like Abraham and the Canaanite woman. The heaven and the earth may vanish one day but the word of God and the promises will never ever vanish. Instead of grumbling that God promises have not come to fulfillment in your life, be firm in your faith and receive the graces and promises of God. Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens(Heb 11:33-34).
