Ask God to Forgive our Sins

Today's Verse:
Blot out all my iniquity. - (Psalm 51:9).

Today's Message:

Many times, we try to cope with the feelings of emptiness that result from sin by burying ourselves in work, relationships, or even church activities. However, until we confess our sin to the Lord, there is no relief. This is because sin builds a barrier between God and us. Unconfessed sin also leads to feelings of guilt and shame, which make us feel isolated from the only One who can bring lasting peace to our troubled hearts and lives.

In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve hid from the Lord. They had sinned and realized they could not face a holy God. When we allow sin to gain a foothold in our lives, problems quickly arise. We must deal with the matter immediately. Running away from God is not an option. Jonah ran and ended up in the belly of a big fish. God, however, is merciful. Once Jonah realized his sin and became determined to obey God, he was delivered onto dry land.

Adam and Eve also experienced God’s merciful grace. He made a covering for their sin, and He has done the same for you (Genesis 3:21). Sin demands punishment. This is why Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose from the grave so that you might have eternal life and forgiveness. Jesus taught His disciples to pray, “Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us” (Luke 11:4). While we know God has forgiven us, we also need to remember that sin can still affect our lives. A lack of forgiveness also can prevent us from experiencing the wonder of God’s joy and peace. Make sure nothing comes between you and the Lord. The most precious gift you have been given is your relationship with Christ. Seek to grow in it and learn to worship the God who loves you with an everlasting love.

Our Loving Heavenly Father, thank You for my relationship with You. Help me to be faithful and to know who I am as Your child. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen."
