Fear of the Lord

“The fear of the Lord teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor” - (Proverbs 15:33).

In an effort to please his boss, a young man devised a plan that would ultimately bring praise to the company. He made the contacts and connections, carrying through on his plan.

When he revealed the plan to his boss, the reaction the young worker received was not what he had anticipated. His actions were met with furrowed brows and a stiff reprimand. His plan was not what the company wanted.

Sometimes even the best of intentions can be wrong, and we find ourselves waltzing down the road of folly when it comes to serving God. With the purest of hearts, we seek to bring praise and honor to God's name, but we fail to ask God what He wants us to do. We assume we know His plan and begin to carry it out promptly, without prayer or wise counsel.

In order to live a life that honors God, we must not only put God at the center of our lives, we also must be committed to doing things God's way. Too often, we make the mistake of trying to get God to go along with our plans instead of taking the time to find out His plan for our lives.

Do you desire to honor God with your life? If so, begin by asking God to show you how to do things His way. No matter how many needs you may see in your community or how much you know about how to meet them, take time to seek His guidance and plan. Don't be quick to rush ahead. Make sure that you have clear guidance for the future. You will honor Him through your desire to serve only Him.

Prayer: Our Loving Heavenly Father, I want to honor You with my life, and I want to commit to doing things Your way. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen."
