For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after. – Jeremiah 30:17
God heals your spiritual and physical wounds. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.(Ps 107:20). And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.(Lk 10:30-34). We observe here a man traveling towards Jericho was attacked and wounded by the robbers. Jerusalem means the living place of God. Blessed be the LORD out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.(Ps 135:21) As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.(Ps 125:2). Jericho represents a cursed place. And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.(Josh 6:26). In this incidence this man in his life leaves Jerusalem and goes to Jericho. It indicates his backsliding. While so doing he was caught by robbers which means he was trapped by Satan. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: (Jn 10:10). The robber steals his clothing and wounds him. You search yourself about your way of life? Are you proceeding towards God in the direction of Jerusalem? Once you enjoy the fruits of salvation but now you have lost it. Are you in this situation? Because of various sufferings and tribulation have you stopped attending the Church? Did you give up the love you had in the initial days towards God? Have you backslidden from the life of prayer and daily reading of the word of God? In that case you are trapped by the robber namely the Satan. He has removed your clothing and wounded you.
But in His infinite mercy God does not want to leave you backsliding in your spiritual life and becoming tired of your life. Jesus is the Good Samaritan. He sees your wounds and heals them. You are going to receive all that you lost because of your negligence of God and His counsel. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. (Joel 2:25-26). Jesus knows all your iniquities, injuries and hurts in the flesh as well as in the spirit. He heals them all. He pours the oil of anointing and the wine which is His blood and also through his word He heals you and strengthens you. Jesus redeems you from the robbers that is Satan and gives you full protection and healing. Therefore you need not lie down like a lame person, not able to rise up and shine before men. Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean. Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.(Isa 52:1-2). You have your own weakness that you will fall back in to the pit of sin. You also doubt whether you would able to rise up from the pit of sin and sign before God and men. God is all willing to rise you again and make your good deeds sign before men. Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the LORD, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the LORD.(Jer 15:19).
I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment. - Ezekiel 34:16
