The government of North Sudan attacked the town of Abyei on May 25. Ground and air assaults destroyed homes and caused the displacement of many residents. "The violence in Abyei shows that if Khartoum is determined to cause trouble," one news source reported, "there's very little the U.N. peacekeepers can do about it."
Pray for the Lord to arise in defense of South Sudan.
Ask Him to protect the people from the threats and violence of the North and bring the new nation forth in peace.
Pray for these two nations to establish a border and respect it.
Ask the Lord to give the leaders in South Sudan wisdom and strategies for guiding the nation successfully through the independence process.
Pray for the unity of the Church in Sudan and for Christians to stand strong and continue to faithfully serve the Lord.
Pray for God's Kingdom to come, His will be done in these two nations. (Matthew 6:10)
