“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” - 2 Corinthians 5:18-19
The good news God has given us today is that we have been reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. When God created man, he was imaged upright like Him. But man without obeying God, sinned against Him. “Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.” - Ecclesiastes 7:29. The sin that man has committed has separated him from God. “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” - Isaiah 59:2. Man began to walk in his own ways. After sinning against God, Adam was afraid to hear God’s voice and he hid himself. Same way man, turned away from God. He couldn’t come near God. But since God loves us so much, through Jesus Christ, He is reconciling us with Him. For this reconciliation God is not thinking about our sins, instead He wants us to repent for the sins and be free. When you repent and regret for your sins and tell them to God, He will never analyse your sins but forgives you immediately. “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” - Psalms103:12. Jesus Christ has died for your sins and thus you have been reconciled to God. But Satan will talk to you about the quality of your sin and how big it is and so on. He tells that these cannot be forgiven. You should never listen to him. The blood that was shed by Jesus Christ for you to be reconciled will clear you from all your sins.
In the parable of the younger son, told by Jesus Christ, the younger son finds his sin to be great. Therefore he says, “I have sinned against heaven and against you.” In this parable, when the younger son regretted his sin and repented for it, he thought that his father will never accept him, as his son. So he wanted his father to keep him as a servant. “And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.” - Luke 15:17-19. His father never thought about his sins. But when he saw him from afar, he ran towards him with full of compassions, through his arms around him and kissed him. The younger son told his father that he had sinned against heaven and against him, and that he is no longer worthy to be his son. But the father never thought about the sins. Instead he gave him the best clothes, rings and shoes. “But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:” - Luke 15:22-23. Dear friends, God the Father is doing the same things to you. He doesn’t remember our sins. He forgives us and reconciles us with Him.
“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.” - Hebrews 10:16-17
