Psalms chapter 32 verse 8. I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Lord God is promising you that He will guide you. David says that his counsels will stand for ever. The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.(Ps 33:11). One of His names is Counsellor. In the life of David, he waits in the presence of God in the early morning and wait for the counsel of God. David never runs before the counsel and guidance of man. Yes, Lord Guide David and he do according to the counsel of God and gain victory. Lord God guide David and set him free from all enemies.
Then Manoah intreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.(Jud 13:8) In Judges chapter 13 we are reading the life of Manoah. Here Manoah is asking for the counsel of God on how to bring up the child that was yet to born. From whom you are getting counsel for your children’s? Are from God or man? And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.(Gen 25:22). Here Rebecca is waiting for getting counsel form the Lord for the children in her womb.
Dear beloved, these days you are having sorrows about your children’s. Are you asking guidance from God how to bring up your children godly? You are teaching and giving counsel to your children about the worldly things. As the Bible teaches us, are you teaching them the word of God? Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons; Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.(Deut 4:9-10).
These days, parents are not listening to the counsel of God regarding to grow up their children. Most of the parents are not asking them the question, did you read Bible today. Did you pray today? The reason for they are not asking this question, they also forget the word of God. Yes, beloved if you forget the word of God then God forget your children.(Hos 4:6) Grow your children in the word of God and according to the counsel of God. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.(Pro 22:6) Lord will teach you and give you counsel about your children future. And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.(Isa 54:13)
Now Jericho was straightly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.(Josh 6:1) Jericho was shut up for the children of Israel. Jericho is a hindrance and obstacles for the Israel people to enter the Canaan. Read the book of Joshua chapter 6 verse 2 to 5. This explains the counsel that God given to Joshua to destroy and over come Jericho. According to the guidance of God, the Israel people go round the Jericho once a time for six days. On the seventh day they should go round the city Jericho seven times. On the seventh day when the people hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout. They did as per the counsel of God. God gave them victory over their enemies. When all kings hear about what Lord done for Jericho they got fear about the Israelites.
What is the Jericho in your life? who stands as obstacles and hindrance? How you are going to overcome them? The Lord who set the Israelites free from the enemies will also set you free from all your enemies. Lord is promising you that he is going to give you victory. Now itself start praising and give glory to Him, all the hindrance and obstacles will disappear. Who ever it may be stand against you is not the problem. You just stand and see the victory of God.
Read Judges chapter 7. Here we are reading God is giving counsel to Gideon to overcome Midianites. As Gideon do as per the counsel of God and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow. And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled. And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath.(Jud 7:21-22).
If Gideon did not do as per the counsel of God then they had to fight the battle and they might have lost many. As Gideon does as Lord said, they just stood every man in his place. Lord gives them the victory. Don’t do as your self will. Then you will meet loss. Wait in the presence of God, Lord God will guide you. Do according to the counsel of God. Then you will see the Lord who fights for you. Your enemies get fear about you.
Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them, And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.(Acts 27:9-10) Here as per the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Apostle Paul gives the counsel to stay in Crete. But the centurion and the people who travel with Paul believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul. And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.(Acts 27:12). When they go against the guidance of God, there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon. So they faced many problems. And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;(Acts 27:18) They cast out with their own hands the tackling of the ship. And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.(Acts 27:20)
They did not obey the guidance and the counsel from the Lord that is the reason for all the problems they faced. But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss. And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.(Acts 27:21-22). In you life also some times the Spirit of the Lord guides you through God’s servant. In such circumstance obey them immediate. Then you will deliver from all evil.
