And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. – Lk 5:5.
Peter laboured for all night, but he did not get anything. All the labour of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled. (Eccl 6:7). In this world we are working hard for lifting our position. And we take so many efforts to lift our position. Even though we work more we are not getting satisfaction in it. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes. (Hag 1:6). These days, some of the believers life is like earning wages and put into a bag with holes. They are having debt and loan problems. They are spending more for medicines and through some other ways their wages are going waste. So they are not able to keep their wages in their hands. Many are working for the world, so they did not satisfy in their work. He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. (Ecc 5:10). To receive satisfaction, keep your eyes on the word of God. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. (Isa 55:2).
In this world, whatever you are doing, do it for the Lord. If you work for God, then you will surely get satisfaction and reward. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1Cor 15:58). How we work for God? Whatever the work you are doing and the goals of your life must glorify the name of the Lord. In that work you will get testimony for the glory of God. These are the works you doing for the Lord. Lord knows your labor for his name’s sake. If you abide in the love of God, you will do anything for his name’s sake. For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: (2Cor 5:14). Paul abides in the love of God and experienced it in his life and laboured more for his kingdom. Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily. (Col 1:28,29) Today commit yourself and your children’s life in the presence of God, so that what ever things you do, let it glorify the name of the Lord. The promise of Lord will fulfill in your life. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. (Ps 128:2) The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. (2Tim 2:6).
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. - Heb 6:10.
