And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? – Mark 4:41
And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?(Mark 4:35-40) In this incident, we are seeing Jesus and his disciples crossing over the other side of the shore in the boat. At that time the disciples saw a great storm of wind arising high, coming towards them. The waves began to flow over the boat and it was about to fill with water. When the storm of wind blows and waves began to spill over the boat, Jesus was sleeping. Here Jesus was quite when the disciples were facing problems in the boat. Now question arises in our mind whether Jesus cares for us when we face difficulties or during difficult situations. It is easy to wonder why things are so tough, if God truly loves us. When you are having trust in Jesus and while having full hope in God, then why your problem is increasing more?. The disciples also asked the same question that you are asking today. The disciples woke him up and asked Jesus, Master don’t you care that we are about to die? When they faced a great storm of wind and when the waves began to spill into the boat they forgot that Jesus was on their boat. They asked Jesus, Master don’t you care that we are about to die? Jesus stood up and command the wind, Be quite and he said to the waves be still, the wind came to halt and there was a great calm. But after that Jesus rebuked his diciples, do you still have no faith?
“In this incident Jesus Christ expected some thing from his disciples. So Jesus was quite but the disciples cried to him “we are about to die’. Jesus Christ gave his diciples all the authority over the storm and waves. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.(Luke 10:19) Jesus was expecting His disciples to exercise authority over the storm. But they frightened. Jesus christ is expecting the same thing from you that he expected from his diciples. Dear beloved you may face a very hard situation today but don’t forget that in all the ways in your life, Jesus Christ is with you. Some times you may think still you are not delivered from your problems. It may seem like Jesus did not still the storms in your life. The truth is, He has not neglected you. He has not neglected your prayers. He has confidence in you, that you will use the authority and through the faith you will over come it. His desires for you to grow up and to learn to take responsibility and to exercise the authority He has given you. The Lord who gave his life for you will surely cares for you. He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?(Rom 8:32) Like disciples don't judge His love by your circumstances. Don’t ask the question Master, carest thou not that we perish? Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. (Ps 55:22)
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. – 1Pet 5:10
