I am weak and poor, O Lord, but you have not forgotten me

But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God. – Ps 40:17

We learn here how the Psalmist prayed in the presence of God. He prays “make no tarrying, O my God”. In your daily life regarding the many problems you face you always raise the question, “why this delay?” When the matrimonial alliances are delayed or not fulfilling why it is being delayed in my case? You always questioned Him who created you. The increment in your salary expectation is not materialized, the promotion you anticipated is postponed then you are forced to conclude that God is delaying and that it will happen to you. Again due to your financial crises, the availability of the financial delayed, the construction work of your own is delayed due to many reasons, you are not able to repay your debts and finally you feel that there is a delay in the fulfillment of the promises of God. All these negative actions and thoughts make you feel fatigued and you start backsliding in your faith. Beloved, God never delays any good thing to you. He does not carry out any thing before hand or after the need is over. He does everything according to His own timings in a beautiful way. He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.(Eccl 3:11). We are lazy in attending the Church in time, we are sluggish in reading the word of God, the most common mistake we make is to make our own decision in giving the offerings to God and inordinately postpone with carelessness the daily prayer timings. So we give all excuses for all the above delays. And yet we grumble that God is delaying in fulfill his word. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.(2Pet 3:9). When you are drowned in the desire to acquire worldly materials you are sliding down from the spiritual duties hence the blessings of the Lord delayed in reaching you. Lot delayed in leaving the city of Sodom when God wanted to destroyed. Lot was deeply attached to the city of Sodom because there was plenty of water, fertile land and prospects for better future life that’s why he was reluctant to leave Sodom immediately. And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.(Gen 19:16)

For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD.(Eze 12:25). There was a marriage in the town of Cannon for which Jesus was invited. And there was a shortage of wine during the marriage feast. The people at the marriage function were deeply worried. The mother of Jesus told Him that “there is no wine”. Jesus answered “My time has not come”. Consider this particular situation. There is no wine to serve the guest. What will be the mental status of the marriage party? In this critical juncture the mother of Jesus might have wondered that being the son of the living God Jesus Himself says that his time has not come. Nevertheless God’s miracle never waits for time. Instantly miracle took place. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.(Jn 2:7-11). You wait patiently for God to do miracle in His own time. While you are reading this very minute miracles are happening in your life but we are not aware of it. He will command His creations and miracles occur immediately. When thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.(Deut 23:21)

For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. - Hab 2:3
