And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. – Mathew 17:20
Jesus said if only you have the faith of the size of the mustard seed, and look up the mountain and command to be uprooted from this place it will be done. The word mountain represents in the context of the crises in your life. You meet with stumbling blocks in your business, in your family life, in your education and career. But God promises that you can remove these stumbling blocks. Jesus Christ assures you that if you have the faith of a mustard seed size, you can over come any problems. During the reign of Saul the people of Israel were afraid when they saw Goliath and heard his word. They were astonished and afraid to fight against him. And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass. And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders. And the staff of his spear was like a weaver's beam; and his spear's head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him. And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? Choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me. If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us. And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together. When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid. (1Sam 17:4-11). Like wise you are also stunned at the sight and magnitude of your problems. When you meet with difficulties you feel as if a mountain is standing before you blocking your progress. For few people financial crises is a mountain. For some other people the dispute among the family members is the mountain. But what ever may be your problems you can extricate by faith.
Though the trials may appear like mountain and problems looks like a blockade, God shows you the way to go forward. First he insists you must have faith a size of a mustard seed. Secondly he commands that you must face the mountain of problems with that faith. How do you look at the mountain? Do you look at it just like the Israelites look at Goliath or like David who encountered Goliath? Or the power of God which is going to win Goliath. When you do not think of God’s power and consider only the mountainous image of the problem then it look very big indeed. There for consider only the power of God which is able to solve your problem. David did not look at Goliath image. He only believe the authority of God. Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands.(1Sam 17:45-47). Thirdly command at your problems with the authority of God. If you command it will be done accordingly. Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.(Isa 45:11).
Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: - Zechariah 4:7
